Additional information
Written after the death of Dee Dee Penny's mother, Only in Dreams is weightier than Dum Dum Girls' first album. It's also more of a polished production, recorded in a proper studio and filled with singalong pop hooks, fuzz guitars, and front-and-center vocals from Dee Dee herself.

Spin (p.46) - Ranked #17 in Spin's 'The Top 40 Albums Of 2011' -- "ONLY IN DREAMS features a brighter, cleaner sound, while bandleader Kristin Gundred evokes Chrissie Hynde at her sultry best..." Alternative Press (p.107) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "The production is solid, the guitars are loose and the rhythm section is tight." CMJ - "[A] restrained, mature effort that still retains the irresistible sugar-rush energy that brought the group to national attention." Mojo (Publisher) (p.93) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "It's a record that reveals previously hidden depths: 'Coming Down' is a moody ballad with juddering guitars that dares to linger way past the three-minute barrier..."
