Osprey are about the most expensive on the market; we got ours on sale for ~$300 and do not regret spending the money. Have owned other big hiking packs including an Osprey, can verify quality and easy of use are both good for this item. Adjusts well for good comfort for wearer and child. Our 10 month old (11kg) is happy to go to sleep while I walk with him in the pack. Feels secure and has enough pockets to shove a jumper, drink, phone, camera, nappy, etceteras so can go for walks where prams are not suitable. Be aware that you will be carrying the full weight of your child for the time you are walking, so is more challenging than going solo or pushing a pram. The pack is limited to 18kg, but that is pretty heavy - most people struggle a bit with that much in a pack! The easiest way to 'lose 18kg' and put the spring back in your step is take the pack and child off... Have done hikes of up to an hour with child in pack; wearer fitness will have a big impact on how you go, but would want to do a lot of practice before heading out on a half-day or longer hike; similar to practicing for an overnight hike with a big pack. Pack folds down a little which helps with packing away in a cupboard or car, but does not really pack down enough to count as 'hand luggage' if you are intending to take it no a plane. Stands well on its own which makes getting the pack on and off, plus child in and out much easier. We got the blue as that was the colour on sale. Allowing you are bush walking, who cares what colour it is? Stands out better than the green or black, but all of them probably attract dirt equally well. In summary, the pack is comfortable and adjustable, works well, feels secure, is well made and we are very pleased with it. If you are going to be burdened more often with having to carry as opposed to push little people, then this is certainly worth the money. If you are only going to use it once or twice, then you may possibly be happy saving a few dollars and compromising on performance.Read full review
