This case does offer an excellent shock absorbing skin that fits over the internal case and screen protector. I would feel confident dropping my phone onto concrete with this case. It does how ever lack water damage protection. The S5 on its own is IP67 rated for splashes as long as your charging port cover is install and back cover seal is intact. How ever those can easily be compromised after a drop. The main issue I've had with this case is the volume buttons are clumsy due to rubber extensions used to make contact with the actual buttons. This extension tends to slip past the button when pressed making it nearly impossible to change volume settings. Lastly, I have retired this case for a lifeproof due to all the issues listed but for a phone this large I find it very helpful to have an option to attach a wrist strap and this case does not allow for this. In all I still recommend this case, and even have it on my parents phones.. So as long as water protect, easy volume adjustments, and wrist straps aren't something you desire to have, then this case might be for you.Read full review

Sorry, I would love to give a good review, but the case is disfunctional. My side buttons doesn't connect to the phone buttons properly. I find myself pulling the case off to press my power button a lot. So it's forcing me to buy a new case.

looks good works great the last one i had for this same phone lasted 3 years only reason i replaced it was the screen was getting pretty dull i wouldnt own a phone without an otter box i cant even tell you how many times i have dropped this phone and out of the case it still looks brand new

I think that OtterBox Defender Cases are the best you can buy. I have one for my phone and my wife has one. The only negative (and for some it is a positive) is that it makes the phone a bit bulky. However, when my wife's phone went flying out of my hands on cement when I fell, I was glad she had one.

I had a generic "Ulak" brand before this but the plastic screen protector on that was soft and became scratched quickly. The soft rubber surrounding the hard case of the generic also began to tear by the USB port. This seems to be made of better quality. Looking terrific so far after a month of use.
