Initially I was a bit concerned about the slight adjustments in body style/design, but after a few months of regular use, don't see any places where structural integrity has been compromised. Even with the BG-4 grip, the body is a bit smaller than the K10 and K20, making it perfect for travel, and still ensuring higher resolution/functions than most other dslr's in its class (especially for the price). I've used the HD video function a fair amount, and while you can constantly adjust the focus manually, can only set the depth of field (fstop) before you start each recording. All in all, a nice step up, a bit fast focus when paired with the DA* line of lenses, and seemingly longer battery life.
This is my first dslr camera I bought it because I love photography and wanted to explore it further than just a point and shoot camera. I love the fact that this camera has an auto function, I was able to use it right out of the box. Now that I am more familiar with the camera it is amazing. It has so many features that there isn't anything left to want. You can even edit your photos right on the camera. I can't imagine going back to point and shoot. My images are more dramatic and so much clearer. I am extremly happy with my Pentax k-7.
I recently upgraded my Pentax from a Km to a K7. I'm still getting used to the new features, but I am impressed with its performance. I must admit, I miss the Km for its easy-to-use features, but I'll get used to the K7. So far, the picture quality seems to be pretty good. One thing, however, there's a small problem with the SD card slot, and I have to take my camera back. The SD card goes in OK, but it doesn't come out, as it gets stuck. I hope they can rectify this soon. I'd recommend this camera to anyone looking for a semi-professional DSLR. EC
I bought the Pentax K-7 three weeks ago and was impressed with the number of features available on this handy but well-built DSLR. The size of the camera is perfect for for my wife on her small hands, which is almost impossiblly found from other brands. It's not super light weight due to its high-quality metal body frame, but she can live with that. So far she is impressed with the functions and is still learning to use it, and we have already found some good things such as water-proof and long lifespan of the the battery. I'd recommend the camera if you're looking for a quality DSLR for a small hand user - e.g., perfect for lady.
K-7 it's next stair of Pentax's DSLR cameras. I've decided to buy it cause i'm a "Pentaxian". Previous my camera was K10D GP, and it's still wonderful. Main reason for buying Pentax it's Lenses. Modern DA lenses not so good, but Limited series still maintain their reputation as Lenses, but not a peace of glass. But even than I prefer legacy Full Frame lenses. Why K-7? Maybe it's not Full Frame, but in comparison with Modern Canon and Nikon DSLR's it's still look attractive. It's have good FPS (5.2), video recording, and of course Lenses, and don't forget - price. I always thought that Pentax cameras not for photographers, They are for Artists. It's not so good for fast moments capturing (maybe Hi ISO fix it out), and its not so wide spread(like seeds) through photographers, but image taken with Pentax looks like paintings. I believe, someday Hoya will change and conquest the world of Photography.Read full review
