For my first Pilotwings game, this was an awesome experience that I wouldn't trade in my game or console for. Granted I enjoyed the hang-glider more than everything else but for that and the fantastic, adventurous soundtrack, the purchase was worth every penny. In spite of how interesting and equally engaging the jetpack and helicopter are, I mainly enjoy the hang-glider so much due to the speed / physics of the controls and the openness of the courses; you can even replay the last portion of flights approaching landings whether you land successfully or not, a great feature for viewing after a long, engaging flight. After one completes all the hang-glider missions with the bare minimum score, they get access to an awesome variant of the hang-glider in a free-roam style landscape with no time limits where the time of day is adjustable adding further variety and replay value to the already fun game. It might appear visually lackluster to those who didn't grow up with the console or experience the game for themselves but the true meat and potatoes of Pilotwings 64 is the experience of virtual flight which is relieving (especially when complimented by the OST) and irreplaceable by any other game I've played. At the very least, try this game and decide for yourself if its right for you.Read full review
I picked up an old N-64 with the express purpose of playing Pilot wings. The flying missions are varried and challenging. It is a great family pick since it has no violence (unless you count destroying defensless bullseyes with missiles) and is enjoyable by a wide age range. Replayability is high; after completing all the missions you will still want to play them over and over again just to see if you can get a slightly higher score or even just for the fun of it. I can never get tired of shooting missiles at Mecha Hawk. Oh, I suppose using missiles to destroy a giant robot is sort of violent, but come on. This game really tests your skill and can be highly addictive.
This is a fun, easy going game in which players must compete using three different types of vehicles. Players must fly through rings, land on targets and use lasers to hit a flying robot. There are bonus missions available like sky-diving and being shot out of a cannon. The graphics aren't the best but it doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the game. Easy controls make it quick to pick up and different missions make it hard to put down. I highly reccommend this game to all.
Loved this game as a kid. Game came quick and works perfectly. Thanks!
