Val McDermid's book "Place of Execution" was rivetting: until I completed it and read the author's notes I thought it was an account of real events. The DVD is not quite so compelling; the changes made to accommodate the different medium do reduce the impact and engagement for the viewer. Still, it was well cast, well acted, and certainly worth watching. However, I'd recommend the book ahead of the DVD.
