It is clear to one reading this book that the author has many issues of his own and really shouldn't be pointing out anyone else's problems, but I suppose that is irrelevant to whether this is a good book or not. This book contains plenty of action and descriptions of jaw dropping incidents, enough to keep one interested, but really, what is the point? It seems to me that this man was upset over the break up and felt that getting revenge by the means of writing a book would be his best outlet. His jealousy and competition with Priscilla's ex husband, Elvis, is evident throughout. I also noted some inconsistencies in how he claims Priscilla reacted to his cocaine induced antics, sometimes she would "laugh" and find it amusing, while other times she was horrified. Personally, I don't think she ever found them funny, but perhaps it is easier for him to justify his behavior. Michael Edwards otherwise was very honest in his descriptions of himself, a tad too honest in my opinion. He speaks of Priscilla's daughter, Lisa Marie, in a sexual manner when she was only 11 years old. He discusses his drug use and infidelities in great lengtgh, as well as sexual intercourse with Priscilla and many other women. All in all, the book is enough to keep one interested, but is rather tasteless.Read full review
Being a new fan of Elvis', I started reading many books written about him as well as joined serveral on-line forums. I find it interesting people's views of Priscilla--they either love her or hate her because of what they perceived she did/didn't do to/for Elvis. Therefore, I thought this book would shed some sort of light on her personality. Michael Edwards certainly thinks very highly of himself and often compares himself to Elvis which is commical and yet annoying (couldn't hold a match to Elvis on any level). I certainly wasn't there and couldn't presume to say if Priscilla loved Elvis or not, but a few of the stories made me think there might have been something there (she got upset going back to his bedroom in Graceland and only took a pair of his favorate pajamas from Palm Springs). I certainly can understand why Lisa hates him he's repulsive in looking at her as a love interest. Although Elvis was older than Priscilla, I do not think he was as "worldly" as Mr. Edwards and therefore Elvis was probably not much more mature than Priscialla at the time they met. What surprised me was why Priscilla stayed so long with this man. I liked the book for the Presley factor but hated it for the Edwards factor. If you really want to read whatever you can as it relates to Elvis and his former wife, it's an okay read.Read full review
This book is about the male model Mike Edwards and his four year relationship with Priscilla Presley. All the time he spent with her , he was trying to get her to talk about the time she spent with Elvis. Mike would compare anything Elvis did to how Mike could do these things better. This book is mainly Mike trying to deal with being know as Mr. Priscilla Presley, which is funny, because Priscilla was famous just by being with Elvis. This book is ok if you want to know about Priscilla's life after Elvis.
I was quite sceptical when I started reading this book, as I am a massive Elvis fan, and I have my own theories regarding Priscilla. I have got to say that the book was extremely interesting regarding the things Priscilla said about her life with Elvis. Some of which I was aware of, but some not. It gives a different insight into their lives from an outsiders point of view, i.e; Michael Edwards. It emphasises the cocoon like life they had to live because of the fame etc, and as her life opened up with Michael it actually made my eyebrows raise on the subjects that were covered, i.e; sex etc. Overall, a well documented book from the author, and a great read. Would recommend for anyone, not just Elvis fans. I would say it`s more sincere than the Elvis & Me biography Priscilla herself wrote.
