This product is great and does a very good job when needed to take a flash picture when the surrounding light isn't as good you'd like it to be.
I bought this product because I do a lot of macro photography including focus stacking and wanted a fast-cycle flash that could be easily adjusted for different shadow / light combinations, could be upgraded easily, could be used off-camera and would be fully compatible with my Nikon D800 (not a lot to ask, you say...). This unit meets these requirements very well. Flash is easily adjustable but you have to read the instructions carefully for your camera and flash because getting the settings right is fiddly. The only significant drawback is that the flash heads only use CR123 3v batteries which are powerful but very expensive! I suggest sourcing generic 3v (not 3.7, not 3.4... definitely 3v...) rechargeables and using them to reduce cost but I can't guarantee compatibility of any particular brand. If you use standard CR123s and take a lot of shots it's going to cost you... The full kit is comprehensive and comes in a handy case, which it should do at the price. You get off-camera stands, filters, lens adapter rings, diffusers and a flexible 'grip' that can be used for stabilising the subject or holding one of the flash units. Nicely thought out with good wireless communications on selectable channels with the camera in commander mode. If you don't have wireless commander mode on your Nikon model you will have to buy the hotshoe mounted wireless unit as well - which is, again, not cheap, so check camera compatibility before buying... The construction is not very robust - lots of plastic - but this makes it light and easy to mount on the lens and camera without worrying about dragging the lens off the mount even on longer macro lenses.Read full review
