Although he may have seemed the most unlikely of rock & roll's early stars, New Orleans pianist, singer, and songwriter Fats Domino probably sold more records (some 65 million of them) than anyone that side of Elvis Presley, and his body of work for Imperial Records between 1950 and 1963 earned him nearly two-dozen gold records. This two-disc set collects several rare sides tracked by Domino between 1950 and 1957 with the label, and if the familiar hits aren't here, that easy rolling piano style and warm vocal style both are. It's Fats Domino. ~ Steve Leggett
