Rated R is the outstanding sophmore album of Queens of the Stone Age. In this follow up they begin to explore and open the band to its now trademarked 'visting members'. Vocals include Mark Lanegan, Nick Olivieri, of course Josh Homme, and also Rob Halford from Judas Priest. Some of the outstanding tracks include Better Living Through Chemistry, In The Fade and I Think I Lost My Headache. When you hear this CD you realize QOTSA is not the average rock band. They really have no category to fit in with their expansive sound (which at times includes a horn section?!) Buy this CD, take a listen and understand that you can't label or limit the musical guiness of QOTSA.
Feel good hit of the summer is a great song, but played out a little too much for my liking. This is a really good album, with all the same stuff you'd expect from Josh Homme, but, I still go back to Lullibies and Songs for the Deaf. If you're looking for some softer death metal, here is you're album.
