Author Biography
Dr. Adwoa Akhu is a New York State licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been proudly providing quality, caring, and comprehensive psychological services for over twenty years. She uses a combination of psychology and spirituality in all of her work. has broad experience in the areas of HIV/AIDS, foster care/adoption, child development, domestic violence, trauma, depression, stress management, and African centered psychology. Through her private practice she provides individual and couples counseling. In addition, Dr. Akhu has served as an expert witness in court for cases in which domestic violence is a major component. She is the author of self-help books for survivors of domestic violence and healing in general. Dr. Akhu is a two time past-president of the New York Association of Black Psychologist and served on the board in various positions for sixteen years. She has also served as a board member of the Association of Black Psychologists, an international association in which the New York Association of Black Psychologist is a chapter.
