I had purchased a 3 cfm amazon website vacuum pump and was using for my vacuum press. it worked well, but was noisy and slower. I finally bought the Robinair 8 cfm which had been recommended on youtube by fellow vacuum pressers and it makes the world of difference. I don't even need a surge tank anymore as the Robinair depletes the air just as fast as the 3 cfm with a surge would. the noise is less and it is crafted well. highly suggest getting it for these kind of projects.

This pump was purchased for use on my freeze dryer. The longevity/reliability of this product has yet to be evaluated by me as I have only used it for 3 cycles of the freeze dryer. It finishes the cycle fine and quickly. My only issue with it is: After a cycle is finished, the pump allows air to be drawn through the vacuum hose and into the freeze dryer chamber. The air being sucked back in brings oil with it, so the freeze dryer chamber ends up with oil in it. I do not like that and am installing a brass check valve in my vacuum hose to see if it helps stop the oil from being drawn back into the chamber. NOTE: ( to this point, I have used JBIndustries vacuum pumps and they do not allow the oil/air to be drawn back through when the cycle ends. JBIndustries pumps also last for years with just oil changes as maintenance, so they are reliable) Would I buy again? The check valve and more use will determine!Read full review

This may be listed as the econo vacuum pump but so far I am loving it. Turned it on when it arrived to see how it would do. Pulled 41 microns directly to my micron gauge. Also next day pulled under 300 on a ref system within 25 min. Very affordable and quiet.

Its an awsome product. But remember to check voltage so its the same in your wall. My wall has 220v in sweden, so an expensive converter is the thing for me.

I like the design, simple and robust. It does not have a vacuum isolation valve, which has pros and cons. The pro is, no potential stem leak. I like the finning, for heat dissipation and 8 cfm is great. It’s pretty heavy. Happy so far.
