After two weeks of use as system drive in my 2 year old i5 system this drive is performing well. In my computer bios I changed IDE to AHCI for the drives just before I installed the SSD. The 2 years old GA-P55A-UD3P Gigabyte motherboard was able to detect the drive and Windows 7-64-bit installed nicely. The computer feels better than new and boots up much more quickly. I haven't run speed tests but this drive feels super fast in real use such as launching applications that are installed onto it. After installing the SSD and putting Windows on it, in Windows explorer I right clicked on the C drive and chose Properties. I unchecked "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties". This took about 10 mins to apply to all the files. I think SSD's are fast enough without indexing, so indexing just does extra disk writes and unnecessarily wears out the SSD. I went to Power Options and edited the Balanced plan. I changed the "Put the computer to sleep" to 5 hours, then I clicked "Change advanced power settings" and expanded the tree for Hard Disk and changed "Turn off the hard disk" setting to 300 minutes.Read full review
