This is a good starter lens if you're trying to learn photography. It has Autofocus, OSS, decent aperture and enough zoom for you to experiment with. A brand new piece will set you back about AUD 199 which is a bit steep for a kit lens. If you intend to dive deeper into the realm of photography, there are better options in the AUD 199-300 range which IMO are better value for money than this lens. That being said, if you can get this lens second-hand for cheaper (under AUD 100) I would recommend getting it as that to me seems more like the value of this lens.

After being employed in an agency, I suddenly didn't need my freelance photographic gear. So I sold it and sought to downsize my kit. So I went straight to this cheap little lens so I could have a high-quality mirrorless setup for day-to-day photos. A year on, and it's completely satisfied everything I could have asked for this price. It's tiny and EXTREMELY compact, it's durable enough that the motorised elements have not failed a year later, and it's impressively sharp. I have show all sorts of photos (including sunsets) and have had no issue with how it handles bloom, contrast etc. It's excellent. I would absolutely recommend this lens. It's fantastic.

Basic kit lens but gives you from wide angle 16mm to portrait ready 50mm. While not as good as a prime lens, it's a big step up from compact cameras and good for run and gun photography.
