It meets all purposes for which I bought it in car, but for walking, care is needed with positioning it. The technical necessity for unit to be facing open sky at all times, though fully understood, does limit its ability in some situations and certainly makes its difficult to position correctly when carrying it. Attached on top of a rucksack is fine, attached to waist-belt is not. A purpose designed small lightweight harness would be a great help.

Ok it does the job. But way to expencive with minimum annual subscription fee of Oz $164. Hate that the buttons have to be held hard down for 5 seconds before it sends. Software - Tracking - Worst of all the coordinates wont even open up via a common app eg. google maps. Everything must be copied then pasted of website. As I said very primative for the price.

I've had previous model SPOTS which were very good. But the GEN3 is so much better. Light, compact and now with many more features. Its so small and light it works well on my MTB with a stick on QuadLock. Perfect.

Great battery life compared to previous model. Good overall shape and weight. No need for a pouch to carry or wear it. Rugged and reliable. Waterproof. Setup and operation is a lot more flexible with this model compared to previous model.

We already own a Gen3 Spot. This one is a family present. Just love what it can offer, only negative is its sensetivity to the environment, meaning it generally needs clear line of sight to the sky, otherwise it loses gps signal. When travelling in vehicles or planes etc...it needs to be sitting against a window... Pushing past that issue, we looove this device!!
