I would like to note, this book is not an anthology, but rather a "Novel in Three Parts." Each of the stories CAN probably be read separately, but they make up a whole story of a sister trying to play match-maker to her brother... some of her choices just get snatched up by eligible bachelors before her brother can win them. This book is a story of a house party where all this takes place and each author writes about one of these romances. In between each story is a chapter focused on the sister and what she is going to do now that one of the ladies on her list has been snatched up. I found it to be a great way to learn about authors I've not read much from, although my main reason for buying it is that Julia Quinn was a part of it. That being said... I thoroughly enjoyed the idea of this book; that three authors would collaborate on one main story. Quite frankly I thought it was very well done. Julia Quinn, as always, was amazing. Connie Brockway I have never read, but now I intend to pick up a book or two of hers. Eloisa James left something to be desired, and quite frankly, I've always felt that way about her. I will give Eloisa James this though... for the first time it wasn't that I didn't like the story, but rather that I thought the story would have benefited from having a book of it's own. The first two stories, although I would have loved to read more of them, still felt complete. The third story felt VERY rushed. Certain long-term emotions were hinted at, but I would have like to have been able to delve into the inner turmoils or thought processes of how these two characters finally decided to act on these long standing thoughts and feelings. I think my favorite part of the story was Connie Brockway's section. I just needed to throw that out there. Kudos, Connie Brockway, you have my attention! =) So my end result was three stars. If I could give half stars it would probably be three and a half, but I didn't feel right giving it four, although I really did enjoy the book. Since it was the last third of the book that left something to be desired, it really took away from the rest of the reading since you are usually left with the end in your mind. Again, I DID like the premise and characters in the last story... it just felt VERY rushed.Read full review
