This is an introductory textbook on the New Age, taking a multidisciplinary approach. A general introduction offers an overview of the range and scope of the movement. Then the perspectives of religious studies, philosophy, the history of ideas, sociology, and psychology are developed in individual chapters. This is followed by a case study of one New Age group, a review of the existing approaches to the New Age by academics, journalists, Christians, and New Agers, and a concluding chapter that looks to the future of the New Age. This book should be of interest to religious studies, theology, philosophy, sociology, psychology and anthropology undergraduates taking courses on The New Age, as well as the general reader.
