Liner Note Author: Michael Heatley. Recording information: Sound Labs, Inc., Hollywood, CA. The Doors held it together for two more albums after Jim Morrison died but, after that, keyboardist Ray Manzarek pursued a solo career. His second solo album is occupied mostly by tunes that seem like a logical 1970s continuation of what the Doors did in the '60s, though Manzarek's singing conjures a whole different vibe than Morrison's. Unusual touches include an Eastern-tinged jazz-rock instrumental ("Whirling Dervish") and a vocal contribution from Patti Smith ("I Wake Up Screaming"), shortly before the release of her first album.
