Having already playing the Titleist 909H 3 wood, I knew what I could expect when I bought this club. While Titleist clubs have a reputation as a "players" club, these new fairway woods are fairly easy to hit. They have a nice high trajectory and are easy to get up in the air as long as you do not try to help it too much. A nice smooth swing produces high, soft landing shots from the fairway. If there is a negative to these woods, it's that they are not the best FW wood off the tee do to the low profile head or maybe it has to do with overswinging on my part. I bought my FW woods with the Aldila VooDoo shafts installed in them. It's one of the very best graphite wood shafts I have used.
This club is not for a mid to high handicap player (9 or lower)... It sits square and has very little offset and can be easily hooked... with that said like every hybrid I have ever played it just takes a little practice and getting use to... As for feel and play it is the top of the line you can expect from Titleist... Titleist service is top notch with almost any shaft available for custom upgrades. As an avid golfer I would have to say that Titleist has finally started to make clubs for all players and the 909H is a step in the right direction... I know it is much easier to hit than the previous models.
Context - I bought this for my 23-year-old son, who is carries an 11 index (I'm currently a 12). He hits a mile and can work the ball a bit, but has a dodgy short game and is a poor putter. Rest of his bag (for reference) is a Ping G15 driver, Adams 3 wood, Titleist forged AP2 irons, Vokey wedges. He was looking for a club to fill in the gap between his 3-wood and 4 iron, that he could hit off a variety of good and bad lies. Research on the excellent "The Sand Trap" site pointed at this club as one of the best "player's" hybrids available. I play the also-excellent Adams Idea Pro Gold hybrids (2 and 3), but my son wanted something different, so I took a chance on the 909H. With the Voodoo shaft (Sand Trap's recommended shaft option), it is a very solid, substantial swing. You very much feel the club head throughout the swing, and the shaft and weighting make the entire club feel authoritative and solid. Shots can be worked high and low, left and right. I never hit it off a poor lie, but my son has and it seems to perform very well for those shots. Sound at impact is muted, and sensation at impact is solid. Very much felt like a "pro" club - if that makes any sense. It's also a very attractive club, especially at address. The headcover is very well made and aesthetically attractive as well, although it lacks a lower "sleeve" to protect the end of the graphite shaft from rubbing.Read full review
Awesome hybrid. Basically the same as the 910 H without all the fancy adjustments that I don't want. The 910 H feature makes the hostel too fat and out of scale with the rest of the club, it doesn't look right to me. Like the 19 degree hybrid so much bought the 24 degree as well, both with the Mitsubishi Rayon blue board shafts (very expensive, but then we are talking Titleist here). These hybrids are big confidence builders and are automatic winning shots when you use them. Have observed 19 and 24 degree hybrids have a little less ball loft than the corresponding 4 and 5 irons and a little more distance. In summary: great clubs, wish I would have gone to hybrids sooner.
This was the best club ever bought on eBay, I will guarantee it! I bought this club for a great price but that was hardly the amazing part, I received this club on December 18th of 2010...two days later I was finally able to take it to the course. On December 20th, 2010 I took it to Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, NC and decided to not hit one range ball or even warm up on a cold winter day. My girlfriend and I got on the third hole of "The Mag" and with 210 yards to the flag I pulled out my "new toy" and said "wow my first swing with my new club" I put the ball on the ground, lined up and hit a "PERFECT" golf shot...the ball came off so pure and never left the flag...it landed 6 feet in front of the hole and rolled straight in!!! My third hole-in-one in my golfing career and my first in almost 7 years! My girlfriend and I went crazy and the club is still in my bag and is just as good as that first shot...well almost! Thank you eBay!Read full review
