Author Biography
Daniel M. Harrison is an entrepreneur and former journalist. He was most recently the editor of CoinSpeaker, the web's second largest publication concerning bitcoin, and also a daily columnist for Motley Fool, the world's largest investment publication. In addition to appearing at these two venues, Harrison's writing can also frequently be found in other mainstream and highly-regarded international financial and general news publications. Harrison is both a financial journalist and a qualified and successful investment professional by training. Around 2010, Harrison started up an alternative asset brokerage which he brought to Asia and sold at the end of 2013 to a Singapore-based family office. His writing and analysis is featured regularly online and in print in mainstream financial publications and he has also appeared on CNN and other major global news networks in the US, UK and Asia. With more than 30,000 followers on Twitter across the world and over 50,000 subscribers to his blog Harrison Talk, Harrison is considered a leading expert on global finance and investment. Harrison has lived and worked in South East Asia and China for the past four years, during which time he has led and participated in numerous projects notably a series of high profile equity and debt capital raising projects, the purchase, financing and resale of aircraft and a boutique airline, the structuring and syndication of a $1 billion portfolio of assets for a UHNW client in the Middle East, the development of a special purpose entity and facilitation of investment to enable the cross border sale of precious stones, and the financing of a multi-million dollar real estate development. Prior to working in Asia he spent several years in New York, where he was the Asia Editor of TheStreet.com, and worked in corporate finance listing and M&A in London. He has an MBA from BI in Oslo and also attended Oxford University where he studied Theology and NYU where he studied for a Master's Degree in Business & Economic Reporting.
