Windstorm Rising #1 is as bad of a story as a first issue comic book can be. There is no introduction of the characters explaining anything about their abilities and/or issues. There appears to be a battle of some sort raging throughout the entire book. No reason for it is given, nor is it even clear who the antagonists are. Of certainty the writer of this Hodge-podge presumes that the reader will want these questions answered. The goal MUST be to gain interest from the reader and sell them the next issue. This strategy backfires. Who in their right mind would have any interest in this mess after such a complete failure? First issues do not always reveal origins of characters, but it helps. Barry Windsor-Smith is a very accomplished artist. His renderings of Conan the Barbarian breathed life and luster to that character. He has no legs to stand on with this pointless "story."Read full review
