Let's start by saying who these clubs are NOT for: Players who like a low ball flight, players who like to work the ball left and right, players who love the feel of blades or forged irons. If those traits are your style these may not be for you. The Di7 irons ARE for: Players who don't mind a high ball flight, players who just want to hit the ball straight, straight, straght. Players who want to get fantastic, predictable distance, players who want a EASY to hit set. I've been a fan of the "fat shaft" from Wilson for a long time. I've owned the Deep Red set, the Deep Red II set and now the Di7s. I've let friends hit them and all they could say was WOW on the distance and straightness. Even mishits don't go to far off line. However forget about working the ball unless you're REALLY good (1 to 4 handicap). Also because of the really high ball flight you won't get a alot of roll. The distance of the clubs are 90% carry.....bright side they're predictable. Bottom Line is the Di7s will lower your scores by being straight and putting the ball in play. Over the last 7 or 8 years Wilson has won "Best in Test" from Golf Magazine. The only reason average players don't use the Di7 or Deep Red II is brand name.If they said Callaway, Taylor Made or Titelist there would be a rush to get these. For a 8 and above handicapper you will not find a better club for the money.Read full review
A great set of clubs. I had read that these irons were long. I am always doubtful as everyone make that claim. To my surprise .... they are. The longest clubs I have had. I would say by at least one club length. This has given me a lot more confidence as I approach the greens. I sometimes stand in amazement on the length I get in the long irons. Very accurate short irons. My set has the steel shafts and I would highly recommend them. I also like the mid-sized head that resist twisting in the rough. The club seems to glide through the grass easier and the fat shafts work. I also like the thinner top line ... to my eye it sets up better. All in all I highly recommend these irons. For the money they out play more expensive irons. I doubt anyone would be disappointed with these irons. Do yourself a favor and try a set out. I am glad I did. jRead full review
If you are a high 70's & up player, these irons are awesome!!! A scratch golfer could easily play them, but most at that level want to be able to work the irons. These are the straightest hitting irons I have ever played!! You can move the ball left and right, but you won't be hitting any hugh draws or fades!! If you want a set of irons that will allow you to take dead aim and go for the flag, these are for you!! The V2 shafts are fantastic! They make them as a Fat Shaft just for these irons and they do their job! The one thing I will change immediately is the factory grips. They are not as bad as some I have played but there is no comparison to some of the newer grips available today! The set comes 4-GW, which is pretty much perfect for mid to high handicappers. You see far more hybrid clubs in play at the Pro level than in the past and the need for a 3 iron is obsolete! Use a couple of really good Hybrids along with these irons, find a good SW and go shoot the lowest scores you've ever shot!! I guess what I'm saying is, these things are GOOOD!!!!!Read full review
I purchased a set of RH steel shaft Di7 irons (4 iron to Gap Wedge) last season, and I have to say that I have been very impressed with them from the first day I used them. I'm hitting my irons a lot straighter than I was before, and i've definitely gained some distance on the longer irons. Overall they just feel great to swing because of proper weighting throughout the club and a properly configured center of gravity. If you have looked into purchasing Di7's you will not be disappointed!
I decided to buy these clubs based on a great deal of research. I really looked into the info on Wilson Staffs' website and I read a great deal of independent reviews. Everything was true. I am down at least one club on most shots and two on short shots. It is a club with power and distance, yet it feels soft when it hits the ball. I could not be happier from the standpoint of what it has done for my game and the fact that I now have a set of clubs that I am very confident in. Another thing I am very impressed with is the grips. I don't wear a glove and in the heat of the summer it is not a problem and they clean right up at the end of a round.
