I have three boys. Another friend who also is a mom of three boys recommended this book to me. WOW. So good. It has also provided opportunities to have great discussions with my husband as we talk about his boyhood and how we want to raise our boys. The authors are easy to understand, and share great stories from their own lives. Being a woman, I have read so much about girls/women and what we go through. Never did I imagine that boys had so much going on with them. This book has really opened my eyes to so much. I will never see boys the same way again.
I bought this book b/c it was recommended by friends. It has really opened my eyes into the world of boyhood. I like how the book explains all of the different stages that boys go through and then gives practical help on how to parent them through each stage. It gives tips after each chapter so when you need help with a certain stage you can just go back to the end of that chapter to read the tips instead of needing to read the book again. It made me realize that a lot of my boys' behavior is "normal" and helped me to see that they have to go through certain things for their development. It also mentions how important it is to have the "tough" or "uncomfortable" discussions with your boys so that they aren't just picking it up from friends or the media and gives you ways to go into those topics. Overall I really loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who is a parent, grandparent, teacher, mentor, etc. of boys.Read full review
