As someone of a certain age, I would have been content to stick with my old laptop, forever. I am not a 'Dummy' but struggle with new technology so this book is proving invaluable in helping me get to grips with my new machine and Windows 8. It is easy to read with good explanations of any jargon. It gives step-by-step instructions from basic to more challenging techniques along with hints and tips for hassle-free computing. It has opened my eyes to all sorts of things I did not know I could do on my laptop. Mr Rathbone suggests using the book as you might a dictionary. If you don't know about a particular thing then, look-up that bit rather than wade through the whole book. This is great for me and means I can take things at my own pace and am not overloaded with stuff I don't need. The addition of the DVD means I have a choice as to how I want to use the information. I expect to be using this book for a long time to come as a reference and guide and for me it is very good value.Read full review
