Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Ham Radio Transceivers
All I can say is that Yaesu is in the top high quality names in Ham Radio and this rig falls in that area of quality. I own 5 Yaesu radios and they will be working for many years. Thank you for the great price.

This is a very capable Mobile Tranceiver, with many functions that I will probably never use! I have the modified full-range version, but the change is only to remove a solder-link on the PCB under the faceplate to extend the range to 136-174MHz from its standard 144MHz 2M band. I also don't need the full power of 55 Watts, as it's being used for UK PMR at a maximum ERP of 5 Watts. The receive sensitivity is amazing - I can hear low-power handhelds perfectly well from over 8 miles away, with a 5/8 over 5/8ths collinear base antenna. I have yet to install it in my vehicle. I don't like the way that the front-panel control is only a "noise squelch", and to cut out distant station interference (apart from using CTCSS) you need to access the menu and set-up a signal-strength squelch, which is then a blanket cover on all other channels. I have not compared this with other similar equipment, except on price - most others have very similar specifications. I have downloaded the very clever programming software from Bob G4HFQ and it's a doddle compared to making memory entries on the front panel.Read full review
