I bought this for the no coding feature. It has a good storage memory for your readings and is small enough to put in a shirt pocket. Uses a small sample and gives a reading fast. I got mine for less than $6 and the strips are not expensive either.

Medicare forced me to buy a new blood glucose metering system. The brand they required me to buy was horrible, and totally inaccurate. I searched online and found that that brand was one of the poorest rated systems. I refused to use. I then researched what products had the highest ratings by consumer groups and independent laboratories. Several brands came up so I searched them on Ebay and found that the Bayer Countour Next EZ meter and system was the lowest price. I paid $7 for the meter and $24 for 100 strips and a bottle of test solution. This is affordable for me; I live exclusively on Social Security. Right out of the package the meter was quick to set up, it doesn't require coding and I had done my first blood test in under five minutes. I still use my old Accu-Chek clix lancet system because it is easy and quick to use and doesn't require handling individual lancets. Refills for that are also very well priced on Ebay.Read full review

Easy to use with before / after meal markers. PC program allows me to download readings to my computer. I can then print them and take to my Dr. The program gives a visual look at trends and patterns. This helps analyze foods and eating habits. This unit does not come with test strips and will only use "Bayer CONTOUR NEXT" strips. ( must have the word NEXT)

This is the meter Bayer is pushing to replace the Breeze 2 since they quit making discs for it in Dec. 2016. It is accurate, offers a range of options regarding your blood sugar and how it is recorded. You can also set alarms for low and high blood sugars (outside of the parameters of the meter saying LO or HI). All in all, a nice little meter. The only negative is having to handle the strips. We Breeze 2 users are spoiled!

I love the upgraded model. I do think it is better than the last and do recommend anyone that don't have this model should switch. It does a lot more.
