Best. Applience. EVER! I am very pleased with our new Roomba, and continue to be amazed with the amount of dirt it comes up with on a daily basis. We have 2 Whippets (short coated dogs) and while they don't shed much, a thin coat of hair does begin to appear on the floors in the mornings when the sun streams through the windows. And there were parts of the house that rarely got the attention they needed. Now we can let the Roomba loose in the bedrooms while we're having dinner and the floor will be spotless by bedtime, and then in the living areas when we go to bed. By morning the Roomba has made its way back to the charging station and the floors are done. It manages carpeted rooms and areas with large rugs as well as it does hard foors, though it has the occasional bit of difficulty with small, light mats. It doesn't get tangled though, as it has a routine it goes through to untangle itself when it feels it has got stuck on something like a small mat or a cable, so the worst that happens is that you find the mat a few feet away when it has finished doing its thing. It did take a little re-organisation to get the process to run smoothly. We had to re-position some furniture because while it is good at getting itself out of difficult situations, we found it just doesn't like objects that are about 1.5 cms tall, like the flat round base of a particular chair, so it spent a long time trying to get the area around it clean. Moving the chair over a little sorted that out. We have a large dining table with 8 chairs and it gets down between the chairs and table legs and systematically gets the whole thing cleaned up, which is more than I did when I vacuumed. I find myself following it around sometimes just for fun, to see how it deals with new situations it finds itself in. It takes a modicum of maintenance between shifts, and these are satisfying in a sense because they allow you to see just how much dirt it has managed to find. All in all, very happy with the purchase. It is pricey, but I heartily recommend it to anyone.Read full review
This little machine has changed my life. I now have more time to enjoy myself because I don't have to spend my weekends vacuuming! Each day while I'm out at work, my irobot is busy cleaning the floors. It does the tiles, the carpets, the hall runners and under beds! I get home and he is on his charger ready to go again! A clean out is so easy and quick, I programme him for the next day and leave him on the dock over night. Truly a wonderful machine. My mother in law has ordered one!
I was very sceptical about a "robotic" vacuum, but I must admit I am pleasantly surprised at just how good it works. We have 3 kids and 2 dogs, so there was always vacuuming to be done, but now that we have the Roomba, we turn it on when we leave in the morning and come home to a vacuumed house - we only need to use our "normal" vacuum every 2 weeks or so. We have hard wood floors with plenty of rugs but the roomba handles the change of surface very well - it also handles all of the cords under our entertainment unit well.
***** Roomba is fantastic, I have the 530 model as I didn't need to pay extra for the programmable option. I have a long haired dog and a cat and "Cadbury" as he is aptly named does an amazing job, I am 100% happy with my purchase. It's amazing how much dust, dirt and pet hair he picks up. I do empty his bin more regularly than some people do as we live in a very dusty area, have 4 teens coming and going and with the pets as well, the floors can get very dirty. I love Cadbury and wish I'd bought one sooner. 5/5 stars from me. :O)
Bought this to help me with a work/life balance where busy was the only word to describe both work and homelife. There has to be more to the few hours of "spare" time than vacumning!! So having read the reviews i bought "Bob" .... yep he got a name within a few hours of being here!. Bob is a trustworthy, hard working and clever housework companion.... of course he only does the floors... because that is what he is designed for.... but he will do them anytime day or night!! no overtime charges or on holidays or sick days for Bob :) What is not to like!!! i think a recurring theme in my reviews will be .... "it does (or does not) do what it says on the box" .... Bob is extremely likeable! If i were to ask for any extra feature it would be a remote device that would let me know where he is.... sometimes if he gets caught up on a something the kids leave hanging about (Bob is not a fan of games involving huge balls of wool and string !! but then show me a vacumn who is!!). Be great if i could whistle and he would whistle back .... now i assure you there is nothing untoward going on in my relationship with Bob :) i cant comment how he compares to other robotic vacumns on the market (he is my first) ....other than to say i see other irobot models with interesting features and capabilities but so far not at a price point i want to pay.... if you want value for money... even new the iroomba 530 model is only AUD $395 or so in Good Guys .. equivalent to about 12 man hours of employing a cleaner in the home. My advice.... get one of these and get the cleaner doing the stuff you really havent got time for.Read full review
