This is a great camera if you want to learn about photography. Although over 10 years old it has some great features and allows you to be quite imaginative with your shots. Not for someone who wants to just 'point and shoot'. The instructions run to several hundred pages ! Bare in mind it does not do video aqnd at 10 mp it's not up to modern standards but unless you want to enlarge photos to A4 this wont matter. Lenses can be expensive but cheaper old film camera lenses can be used on manual setting.

I have used cameras, both still and movie for many years. I made a reluctant shift from film to digital. In each move I never felt completely happy. I saw this camera on offer and felt that this may be the answer - it was. I felt that I had a solid Nikon film camera in my hands and I was away once more down the roads of my hobby. It has a modest sensor but produces wonderful images, It is solid and a little weighty but stabilises my not so steady hands. I can use my lens from yesteryear and do things I thought I would not be able to do again. I am young again and all because to an out dated D 200!

I bought a D200 a few month ago, some friend want it, I sell it and when I decide to buy other camera, well I bought again a D200. What I like is feeling in your hands, the dials are well located on body, and in my hands fits perfectly, also is nice that support older lenses and can perform metering. What I don't like is that don't support the canon objectives, and at high iso has a lot of noise. Other camera that I use ( Nikon d50,D60,D70,D40 ) / Canon 350d, 400d, 30D, 40D ). Overall, I recommend this product because you get a lot of features at a low cost.
Having been a customer of Calumet for many years and a user of D200s for a number of years professionally in my previous job,, I was happy to buy this camera from them with complete confidence. When it arrived, I was not disappointed: It was in very close to mint condition. The D200 is a fine camera: Strongly built and feature rich and ideal for a serious amateur or as pro back up camera. On eBay for around £300 you get a great deal of camera for your money and far better value than buying a bottom of the range new camera. Only problem I have encountered is the rubber grip below the thumb wheel (the red bit) working loose and preventing the thumb wheel from turning smoothly. A well polished hand grip and scuffs/scratches will suggest a well used camera but you are unlikely to find one that is worn out.Read full review
Well, I did bid and win a Nikon D200 but without the lens mentioned. I have been a Nikon user for some 35 years and needed a good Digital camera that would serve both my autofocus lenses and my manual ones. The D200, for me, is ideal as it offers the quality I need without all the bells and whistles of more modern cameras. The lens quality has always done the talking and the D200 provides a near perfect way of achieving the end result. I found the handling was as I would expect from a Nikon, and bearing in mind I have an EL2, FM, FA, F80, F4 they all feel similar and, apart from the electronic aspects, are comfortable to use. Yes, I am a dedicated Nikon user and see no reason to change and would, therefore, recommend the D200 for anyone who wants the Nikon quality at a brilliant price (depending on what deal you can get.)Read full review
