I personally use the Mi Band for an alarm and watch. I have cochlear implants so can't hear a traditional alarm once I've gone to bed. I wear this to bed and use the app to set my alarms. The vibration is powerful enough to wake me up without waking up my wife too. I find the heart rate monitor a bit hit and miss; not always accurate. I also find the step tracking a bit off the mark sometimes. If I'm patting or burping my daughter, it counts those as steps. I find my iPhone is a more accurate tracker. But the band is perfect for what I mainly use it for--as an alarm. The only other thing I would say is that the band is pretty comfortable except for the underside of the tracker, where the heart rate monitor is. It sticks out a bit and is kind of hard and sharp, so can get uncomfortable at times. All in all I'm pretty happy with the product though. It's a great band with great features and excellent value.Read full review

The Mi Band 2 goes beyond my now abandoned Fitbit Charge. Battery lasts about 2 weeks at present. The pace count appears more accurate. Fitbit over counts your steps and confuses wrist movement with walking. The sleep function on the Mi Band gives good feedback on the length and depth of sleep. It links to Google Fit as well as the Mi Fitness App. Heartrate is slower to measure on the Mi Band. It has an inactivity alert. Finally the Mi Band communicates with your android phone and reports alerts, calls and messages with vibration feedback.

The Mi 2 represents a good hybrid option between a 'light weight' fitness band and a bulky 'smartwatch'. At 7gms. you don't know your wearing it - has enough 'fitness' features to keep you in check, plus basic smart watch funcionality. Battery life is very good. You will need the Xiaomi 'app' to get it going. The display struggles a bit in strong daylight.

I bought a Fitbit Charge HR 2 years ago for over $120AUD and it wasn't bad. I came across this band's reviews due to its great battery life and I must say, it didn't disappoint. I found it annoying having to charge my fitbit every 2-3 days. Not only that, but the mi band 2 gives you more accurate notifications when you get text messages and calls which is great. 10/10 would recommend.
