Definitely worth owning. I borrowed from a friend, and bought my own today.
This does exactly as the title describes and gives you research based strategies. Keep in mind that these stategies work for general populations, but there will always be students that require a little more managing. I have Robert Marzano's book "Classroom Instruction That Works" as well. These are a great series of books for research-based strategies. However, you will want other books for more specific information on cutesy tips and things. These are research-based strategies that most are aware of but this book puts them into perspective.

Good Book For New Teachers
A good resource for new teachers looking for guidance and researched ideas in classroom management. Not a lot of new information for myself as I have been teaching 15 years. Great reminders and helped me see what I am currently doing is based on researched interventions.

I am finding this book very helpful as I finish my degree for teaching. It is written in very understandable terms, except for the first chapter. Great tool for colleages to use.
