In 2010, the controversial sculptor Markus Lupertz completed a public artwork for the German town of Gelsenkirchen. The 60-foot-tall aluminum sculpture is an urthodox representation of the mythological hero Hercules as a lumpy character with stumpy legs and one arm. This catalogue focuses on 43 bronze maquettes that Lupertz used to develop the final work.
