Author Biography
Richard Badalamente was a senior analyst in national security, focusing on nuclear nonproliferation, counterintelligence, and counter terrorism. He served at the Pentagon in 2002-2003 to assist in planning for Operation Iraqi freedom. He was assigned to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna from 1990 through 1992, where he authored the Strategic Plan for Safeguards, and assisted the IAEA in evaluating the safeguards implications of nuclear weapons development activities in Iraq. He was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, where he served in a number of assignments over a 20-year career, including a period in Tehran, Iran, just prior to the Iranian Revolution. The Lion and the Sun draws heavily on his experiences in intelligence, and in the Air Force. It is his first novel.
