It's a cheaper amp/receiver that shares a some features that old school high end amps have, but it doesn't remotely compare with a NAD, Proton or a decent Pioneer/Sony/Yamaha/Technics/etc. When put through its paces, not really up to driving decent larger speakers, and lacks the fuller sound quality of a nicer old-school amplifier/receiver with disappointing bass/lower end. When cranked up, the power supply dropped out, and the Opus One's tuner/selector/controller dropped out and rebooted, or maybe some circuit protection breaker was activated - not sure - but it was a bit of an unexpected thing to happen. But, if something newer and lower budget is what's required to run some bookshelf speakers around a TV, this is not a bad unit for that.
