Sure wish this wonderful perfume would come back. It has its own unique fragrance. There isn't any other brand that comes close to it.

This is my signature scent, I’ve been using this since 1971. It’s light and airy and it lasts a long time, I’m going to be completely lost if I can no longer buy this fragrance from Carven. Ma Griffe is wonderful!

Ma Griffe was innovative when it was created in 1946, and the vintage continues to impress those who've never experienced it before. It's a far cry from the icky-sweet, candy-coated fragrances of today. The combination of notes seems weird and wacky in the abstract—asafoetida, aldehydes, gardenia, oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, and cinnamon?—yet somehow it works. Ma Griffe starts out sharp, green, and bitter, then evolves to soft, sweet, and powdery. If you've never smelled it, you're in for a treat! Note that reformulations from the 1990s on don't compare with the vintage, although the very latest (2013) is a good attempt at recapturing the original within the restraints of banned ingredients and such. (This particular version in Parfum de Toilette is from the late '70s to early '80s, I think.) All the hoopla over vintage scents makes me sick. It smells like several other vintages and does not last or project long. I've had it with blind buys.

Love the fragrance. Used it many years ago, and was glad to find it again.
