This is a Manning series book. This is where the step daughter of Jason Manning gets married. It is a lot like Bride on the Loose. The 13 year old daughter of a man who just moves into the building where Christy lives sets her up with her dad. The daughter tries everything to get these two together. This is a building full of odd balls. They may be odd, but they are all friends. There is a weight-lifter and a gypsy and a cat lover. Through all of these people we find that everyone is pushing Christy and the girls dad together. Christy fights it as does the guy. They always seem to find one another though. The girls mother left her father for her job. She always promises to visit and take her with her for a visit but never does. The girl keeps turning to Christy for support. Her dad works very long hours and doesn't have time for his daughter. That is until Christy helps him with his daughter. They become close and learn to help each other. The one woman in the building looks into her crystal ball and tells Christy that she will marry this man. Christy thinks she is crazy and fights it but in the end they find each other and the Mannings welcome him into their ever-growing family. This is a short book and it does seem to follow in the track of Bride on the Loose but it is fun. I loved meeting these characters. These are a bunch of good-hearted misfits that live in the same building. They all call this building home. There is the woman with the crystal ball, I call the gypsy. Then there is Arnold, the weight-lifter and the woman who loves cats. She has so many she doesn't know what to do. (LOL) Although these people may be different they are like a big family. I loved the use of these fun characters to tell a story of love and how a child can cope with one parent missing. If you happen to find this book, it is worth the read. You'll laugh, you'll cry along with a 13 year old who is rejected by her mother, and most of all you'll learn to believe in the power of love.Read full review
Accidently sold my copy at a church rummage sale and needed to complete one of mlky favorite reads of Linda HOwards and this was fast cheap and easy. It was easy enough to put in author and look u what was availabe.
I LOVE Linda Howard's Mackenzie series, however, I was a little disappointed in Maris' story. It just didn't have the same awesome story line as that of Joe, Chance or Zane. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just not on the same level as the others. I did enjoy the other two stories in the book though.
I COLLECT ALL OF DEBBIE MACOMBERS BOOKS. I OWN ALMOST EVER SINGLE BOOK AND I AM COMPLETEING MY COLLECTION. EVERYONE OF HER BOOKS ALWAYS KEEP ME INTERESTED SENTENCE BY SENTENCE. I HAD NOT GOTTEN ONE BOOK OF THIS SERIES IT WAS THE VERY FIRST ONE. AND IT SS ALL OF HER BOOKS AMAZE ME. GREAT JOB ONCE AGAIN DEBBIE
