It dos what it is designed to do ,The Memory has a glitch of some sorte and IMO is not reliable ,paper & pen will be best option if it is important for you. There is plenty of reflective stickers if you do as I did ,cutte off a small part 2cm ,it sticks well enough on a clean surface . For my purpose I did multiple readings and averaged the numbers .the distance at witch it can read the RPM is good enough went up to about 4 feet away though it is more difficult to aim & stay on target ,if you have a shaky hand. I tricked that with steadying my hand on a fixed part on my bike . So for the money spent ,get it from a US seller the one I used was honest with shipping and charged me what the real cost was (most will inflate the shipping rates to "Steal" more of your hard earned cash) 15$ + less than 5$ for shipping ,received it in less than 10 days ,that make it over all a great deal ,It is not of industrial quality be warned about that ,dropping it on the floor a few time may be very risky .Hoppe this revue helps you make a decision. It jumps up and down as much as 1000 RPM at a time. Didn't expect much for ten bucks.

This meter does what it says. I bought it to check various record turntable speeds. I found the meter (and my turntable) to be spot on. Now that I trust the Meter's accuracry, I plan to use it elsewhere. It feels cheap, reflecting the low price, but it works well. The reflective tape is of marginal quality. However, reflective tape is readly available.

This is one of the lowest priced optical tachometers that shipped quickly from within the US, and for the price, it is a great value. I am assuming that it is accurate, but have no way of knowing it's actual margin of error, though it is listed in the documentation along with a few other important technical specifications. One thing to watch out for is that using it in bright sunlight and/or trying to put the reflective tape on a smooth light color makes it difficult to get enough contrast to the reflective tape to get a good signal.

That's about all I can say. Have to press and hold the button to read the RPM. when you let go of the button the readout goes blank so it;s usefulness is limited by placement and viability. There is a second button that should present the last reading taken. This would be a usable feature however it does not display the same "last reading" I saw when the device was actively working. But the price is very low. I only need this once a month or less.
