Also you can't rely upon it when construction closes several ramps or places you in the opposing lanes--two way traffic. When this happens, the unit wants to take you back to where you missed the ramp or to the road closed site. My suggestion is to delete the distination and re-enter it after you get pass the construction zone. We had to several times. The Red Camera Alert is also a handy item. In South Carolina and Lyons, IL, the unit didn't allow us to put in the correct number for the street address. In both instances, the roads had a local name as well as another--example Ogdan and U.S. 13. The unit didn't recongize Ogdan, but identified the hotel address as U.S. 13. Unless you knew the local road was U.S. 13, the unit wouldn't take you there.

The actual shortest way does not come up as the shortest way. The actual fastest way does not come up as the fastest way. This unit performs horribly when rerouting. It will continually try to turn you around instead of finding the newer fastest/shortest route. Never again Magellan, I've had 3 tom-toms and 2 Garmins that were less expensive and better performing. Don't waste your money.

The GPS itself is a fine unit easy to use, nice bright display, even on sunny days with the sunlight reflecting off your interior. Which was a problem I had with my last GPS. At least a 10 year old Tom TOM. Yes I tend to keep products for a long time instead of running out and buying new every time they change a few features.

I already have one Magellan roadmate, but purchased this one as an upgrade. I've been very pleased with the performance and ease of use. I especially like the fact that when first turned on, the roadmate gets right down to finding the desired route and doesn't spend endless time searching for a signal. The voice instructions are clear and easy to understand. The lifetime map updates are a big plus.

I needed another GPS, but I wanted one that had Canadian maps in addition to U.S. maps. This unit fit the bill, for under $100 brand new. I like the lifetime maps updates, and the warnings for speed and red light cameras. I have always enjoyed Magellan GPS products in the past and I think this one will be no exception. Note, the red light camera works well, even in Canada!
