Love, love the easy use of my smoker. From start to finish, just preparing the smoker to the finished product is so great. I can go off shopping and not worry about adding and lump coal, it does it all. Only thing I was disappointed in is the lack of the smoke flavor to the meat, the smoker doesn’t heat up enough to produce the smoke but I still love my smoker!

Only used this item once. The things that went wrong was my lack of smoking knowledge.

Good quality construction. Gentle even smoke, no hot spots. Easy clean-up, I look forward to using it. At the end of cooking keep a closer eye on food as the cooker gets hotter after the water pan is empty.

I’m new to smoking meats but I have marinated cuts of meat for years, especially steaks and chicken. Today I successfully smoked a 15 lb trimmed beef brisket. It took 11 and a half hours at a temperature range of 225 up to 275, though I did lose control of the temperature momentarily when it shot up to 325 degrees. As previous reviews state, the temperature gauge isn’t accurate, mostly because where it is located (on the lid). Get yourself a good dual probe meat thermometer. You will not be able to smoke meats in this smoker well without buying one. I noticed that the temperature control switch started to turn the unit off if I twisted the knob to the “low” setting. So medium to high heat or nothing. Assembly is a breeze and clean up can be a pain as it is with any grill or smoker. There’s really no way around it. Gonna have to scrub. Happy with my purchase.Read full review

I’ve had an electric smoker for 8 years, another name brand. This one is so much better. It is lighter, much easier to clean out the ashes and gets hotter. The element finally quit on the old smoker. I actually bought this Masterbuilt for about the same price as replacing the element on the old one. Electric smokers keep the heat constant, unlike wood or charcoal smokers. The wood pan is GREAT!!! I used pecan branch twigs and it produced plenty of smoke. My old smoker didn’t have the wood pan and it was really hard to clean out the ashes around the element. I read reviews on products and take them with a grain of salt. Most people will only review a product when they’ve had a bad experience. I am very pleased with this Masterbuilt smoker. You won’t find a better one for the price because I looked at several. If you’ve never owned a smoker, try this one. You’ll love how easy it is and still have money in your pocket. UPDATE.... I will admit the first time I used this smoker, it worked great and nothing but ashes was left in the wood pan. BUT, I smoked with no water in the pan. Water does help stabilize cooking temperature but pork and most meats will still be moist without water in the pan by its natural juices. Some people use sand instead of water in the water pan. The next time I smoked, the pan had water in it. The moisture was too much for the wood pan to get hot enough to burn and create smoke from the pecan branches. I did try one thing and created smoke with water in the pan. I put aluminum foil on the bottom around the edge of the element with branches. It worked. Plenty of smoke. The foil will make it easy to clean out the ashes. I did put the wood pan In place to help stabilize the temperature. Photo shows two places where I placed the foil. Will put more foil and branches next time. I realize this has been lengthy but I hope it helps. For the price, it’s still a great deal.Read full review
