I bought this phone for my wife because she forgets to turn the phone off after speaking so a clamshell is obviously the answer as one has to close the cover to shut it down. She was not too happy with the TXT function as it was too complicated for her to handle and reverted frequently to German script. Besides that, the blue colour of the alpha numerical face made the small text difficult to read. She told me the battery did not last as long as the previous phone so I told her that it was a secondhand one and life span normally diminishes with age. Nice looking and well made but not for everybody.
I’ve been using the Moto KRZR K1 since 2005. By 2016 the screen display became erratic and I replaced it with another. That’s right, another Moto KRZR K1. Since 2005 mobiles have changed a lot. Somewhat bigger screens, more apps, more things to do on the net. And that’s the problem, as far as I am concerned. Because when it comes to computers, I like big screens and big CPUs/GPUs for programming (linear and parallel), for graphics (2D and 3D), for composing documents and charts and posters, a fast broadband internet connection for research, and I especially don’t suffer from instant-email-reply harassment. Oh, and did I mention big screens? In my mobile I like, apart from being a phone of course, the ability to record sound, to take a (reasonable) photo, to record a short video, just in case I need it somewhere. The Moto KRZR K1 has all that, and the internet connection is there if I really wanted it but I don’t. Plus it’s small, makes virtually no difference in any pocket or briefcase. And the cover keeps it safe and sound wherever I go. It does connect to a computer via the Moto Contacts Tool so backing up the memory is no problem. Because the functionality is limited there is no problem with security and I don’t have to worry about all those endless ISP plans. All in all, I just hope in another 11 years’ time that phone will still be available!Read full review
