I have one I took traveling last year and bought another one because it worked out so well. I used whatsapp to message and call friends and people I met within other countries and between those countries and the US. I bought a 32 Gig card and filled it up with videos (entire seasons of tv shows), music, audiobooks, ebooks and games. There are tons of apps to play music and video, read ebooks and play games. I figure I got more than 8 hours of video and more than 11 hours of ebook reading after tweaking the settings like using airplane mode and dimmer screen settings to conserve power. I bought 2 extra batteries and an external charger for like $12 (so cheap). That way I did not have to plug the phone in and leave it to charge. The charger could be stolen but it would be useless unless the person had the same phone. It also has a 3 megapixel camera I have not used much but seems fine. It is at least a back up camera with video. I was able to use it for the internet in a pinch when I did not have access to a larger device and it came in handy in a pinch. I have seen so many people travel with a really nice phone with their personal info and contacts only to have the phone stolen. This is a phone you can travel with and not risk losing so much. It is also clearly not an expensive phone and not so attractive to thieves.Read full review

The Samsung Galaxy for Tracfone is a good value. It is a smart phone and does very well. The RAM (Random Access Memory) is small. A little over 500 MB. What this means is that you are limited on what APP's you can download and keep on your phone. There are many APP's that are preloaded onto the phone which cuts down what you can use. On mine, there was a little over 100 MB of usable RAM available or about two to three APP's. Some are transferable to an external memory card (Micro SD) that does not come with the device. Most of the preloads do not have the transfer to SD card option. For the $15.99, it is a great deal for an Android. You just need to investigate before you buy to make sure it will meet your needs.

I have never had a smartphone before, primarily due to fact I did not want to be trapped in an expensive contract. After losing my Tracfone, I started shopping for a replacement and was pleased to find that Tracfone was now offering Android phones. After checking several sites, I chose this one due to the good price and the fact that a 600 minute card was included (Note: the 600 minutes do not triple). The shipping was fast and after an initial glitch on the Tracfone website I called their 800 number, used the automated system and had my old phone number, minutes, service time and the 600 minute card transferred to my new phone in about 15 minutes. Tracfone does not include a printed users guide, but it is available on their website. Unlike other Tracfones, this one does not display your remaining usage information. You can request an email from Tracfone or there is an app available that will display it immediately. Also, this is a 3G phone. Some of my friends tell me that is a drawback, but I find it acceptable for my use. The one issue that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the battery life. The phone must be put on the charger every night or it WILL go dead. I have had it for about 3 weeks. I am very pleased with it and don't know how I did without it.Read full review
I upgraded to this phone when Tracfone said they were phasing out the simpler, 2G phones. The choices available at the Tracfone site were fewer. It was the cue to shop around. Since my simpler phone was a Samsung and was pleased with its performance, I decided to stick with the brand. Furthermore, since I use my primary smartphone much more, I really didn't need one with the latest in technology, connectivity and capability. Serving as a back-up phone, it would be used in a more limited fashion. Set-up: Read the instruction booklet and the quick set-up guide, particularly for those investing in a smartphone for the first time. Transferring from one Tracfone to another: The set-up and transfer for existing Tracfone customers from their "old" phone to this one was very smooth at the web site. Follow the prompts. The transfer should take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. Battery Life: Since this has more capability, it will consume more battery power. Turn off those apps and sync's you don't need on. Also includes turning off wi-fi if not connecting to the web. Bottom line, it is a phone of good value. I would also say it's an excellent entry-level phone for those new to smartphones. Since it is a web-enabled phone, I would be hesitant to give this phone to a teen or younger if it was not a Tracfone. But since it is a Tracfone, it teaches them to stay within their time limits.Read full review

These are the MAIN reasons why I like the Samsung Galaxy Centura Phone: The reason why I like the Samsung Galaxy Centura phone for Tracfone; although this phone has an older Andorid OS (Operating System), you can still check text messages, surf the web, and listen to your music all at once. The only downside of doing too many on the Samsung Galaxy Centura at once is that when are listening to music and trying to surf the web, webpages seem to load a lot slower even when the bars are at full 4 bar status. The second reason why I like the Samsung Galaxy Centura phone fluid movement between apps when you click on them. Also, when you used the menu button, again, I like the fluid movement of surfing menu searching for different apps. Because Samsung Galaxy Centura comes with an older Android operating system, some of the apps such as Google Music, Newstand, and Youtube will require to update them. The third thing that I like about the Samsung Galaxy Centura phone is both the video/photo camera on the phone. Keep in mind that although this phone comes with a 3 MP (mega pixel) camera, the quality in my opinion is very good. To be honest, I cannot tell the different in pictures with a smartphone that has a 5 MP camera and one with a 3 MP camera. Again, this is just me. But for the price, I still believe that you are getting a good deal. Finally, the fourth reason why I like the Samsung Galaxy Centura phone is the fact it is a Tracfone. I know a lot of people may be turned off by the fact that is a prepaid phone. However, I like the fact Samsung Galaxy Centura tracfone comes with triple minutes, text, and data. For instance, if you purchase a 60 minute airtime card, you will receive 180 minutes of talk, 180 text messages, and 180 MB of data added to your overall account balance. Personally, I purchase the One Year card which cost around $99 (USD) where you pretty get an unlimited amount of talk, text, and data. Think about paying $100 or more a month a smartphone under contract or paying $100 a year for unlimited talk, text, and data. But again, every one is different. Read full review
