For the price I got them for they were an excellent choice. Far superior to some of the other far more expensive brands. I have used many headphones in my 30 years as a sound engineer and for what I'm using them for they are great. Nice bottom end.... not overstated and clear top end with good vocal presence. Overall a fairly flat response which is what you need for a variety of listening purposes. Nice and compfy over my big ears too. My only very minor complaint is the curly lead. Would have preferred a straight one, but hey no big deal. Nice robust construction. I'm sure there's better phones out there but it boils down to what your using them for and i'm not monitoring the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Forgot to mention the good sound isolation too. I don't annoy my wifey when I'm in bed listening to movies on my iPad. How many sets of phones do you need to listen to anyway? I think I did about 20. Stick to a known brand so you can get spare parts too. Sennheiser have been around for a long time. Cheers, hopes this helps....Stuart M.Read full review
Overall I'm very happy with the HD 280's. I primarily use these for film editing. I'd previously had a pair of Sony MDR-7506s. The HD 280's have a high quality solid feel and the swivelling head pads make them very easy to put on. I was slightly disappointed with the weight...and while I can keep these on for long periods, you are aware they're perched on your head. Given the components and HQ build it may be unreasonable to expect feather-light headphones - maybe I'm a dreamer. Overall though, fantastic sound reproduction, crisp high end and beefy lows give a full, clear balanced audio experience.

After a lot of other reviews, I purchased this product and all I can say is that they are fantastic. Comfortable, well made, stylish, the combo cable which is coiled with a standard leader is a nice touch, as is the screw on adaptor plug. They fold up to a pretty compact size and from what I can see every single part is replaceable and available from Sennheiser. Audio quality well you have to hear it to believe it- almost flat response which is what you want for a studio set. The only thing that would have been better was a removeable headphone jack, but I am still more than happy. 32dB attenuation which means it blocks most outside noise. Love them.. you would never be sorry if you got a set !

These headphones have great mid-range detail. I bought them for live sound work. They're loud and clear and i can hear them easily over my Front of house sound. They also fold into a travel friendly compact state. They break up a little easily if you give them too much level, but that's easy to keep in check. I also use them to listen to my iPod on flights. I would buy them again if I lost them for sure.
Excellent value for money. I use them for my recording. They are very comfortable, with great frequency response. Would definitely buy again.
