I decided to invest in some Qi wireless charging equipment and found these Sony branded ones for a very cheap price, especially considering they also have a built-in battery bank. The wireless charging function works, but is very picky about how well you center your phone on the charging area. I use a very thin plastic case on my Nexus 4 and found that the case limited the positioning of the phone even more. Since I don't want to remove the case every time I charge, I tried starting the charge in various positions and there is only about a 1cm range that I can align the phone and have it charge reliably. Also I found that the best alignment was with the phone upside down, otherwise you can't see the blue charging indicator. I guess there is only one charging coil in the pad, so a very small sweet spot to align for charging. This was released a few years ago when the Qi standard was just starting so for the price it's really hard to complain. Aside from that the device quality is very good, as Sony used very good plastic. I can't say yet whether the battery really lives up to 5000mah expectation, but charging my phone up from 80% to 100% didn't make a dent on the battery indicator on the Sony. Also there are some people on Amazon who said they can't charge the Sony and their phone at the same time, but if you read the manual it explicitly states that it depends on your USB charger, specifically that you need a 1.5A-2A charger to do that simultaneously. My 1.5A charger was fine for that, so just check your charger specs carefully.Read full review

There isn't much texture to the outer casing so the phone has a chance of moving around. I had a hard time finding just the right placement for the phone in order for it to charge. I have a smaller charges that don't give me that kind of trouble. Portability is very nice. If you don't have access to a power source it already doubles as a power bank

I sometimes forget to charge my phone before work, and I'll i use it without charger cables and just set it on top of the dashboard and drive 30 miles under the speed limit so it won't fall off. Then use rubber bands to hold it in place while i walk into the building and leave it charging inside my locker for the remaining 30 minutes cause qi depletes the battery faster i assume. I have to take it home and use my laptop to charge the darn thing or as I recently found out the usb port from my tv is the same output (which to charge it it's what it will only take) and i can charge it while i watch tv. ( no sarcasm here). But other than that it's cool

It's a great device from Sony. It is not as expensive as other ones out due to the fact that they are discontinued. It has all features needed plus wireless charging.

It works as a great back up charger but the qi wireless charging portion you have to plug the charger into itself to make it work which seems a little less intuitive. Should be auto but works none the less.
