If you haven't seen this movie, something is wrong
Drawing from the title of this review, if you haven't seen this movie by now, something is wrong. You're just one of those people who skip blockbusters, listen to others talk about them for months or years until the stars of the film become superstars, and the characters they portray become icons. Then, if you ever admit it, everyone looks at you and says incredulously, "You mean you actually haven't seen INDEPENDENCE DAY? Are you KIDDING?" Well, welcome back to popular culture. If you needed to read a review before seeing or buying this film, you need only understand this: INDEPENDENCE DAY was one of the films that galvanized audiences squarely behind the stardom of Will Smith, who literally does no wrong in this movie. He portrays a military pilot and fighter who meets the aliens head-on with a gutsy swagger that left every young man leaving the movie trying to emulate him. Despite the predictable ending -- we win -- all the fun is in getting there, right up to the politically incorrect, celebratory cigars enjoyed by Smith and Goldblum at the conclusion. It is an exciting, uplifting, feel-good, heroes always win kind of sci-fi thriller that at times is creepingly real. One scene in the movie says it all -- when the aliens bear down with rays on the White House and blow it to smithereens, the way some of us wish an alien ship would do right now (lol!) The special effects? Everything you'd expect, but the acting and the strength of the ensemble delivering this screenplay is worth every minute on the screen. Stop reading this silly review, get on eBay right now, and find a widescreen copy with a good price. Now, BUY IT OR BID NOW! You don't want to face another person who says, "You haven't seen INDEPENDENCE DAY?." do you? It's one you will want to own....and watch again and again.
Fret Markers Inlay Sticker Decal For Guitar - Tree Of Life Steve Vai -OC Gold

Taking your guitar to new levels
These holographic laser cut adhesive film overlays are a startling alternative to blank fretboards on a classic guitar or ho-hum mother-of-pearl dots. It’s also a great way to take a low end guitar to a new level of cosmetic beauty. When properly prepped and applied, these faux inlays are eye appealing and unnoticeable when performing. Depending on the wood hues, hardware and trim, I can heartily recommend the faux abalone or gold leaf finishes, both of which I have in use on both a high end and low end guitar. While these are remove able, with reasonable care, they should remain in place indefinitely. Purchase with confidence and be amazed by the result!

Glen Campbell, Jimmy Webb at their creative peak
There was always a musical "holy trinity" for me, growing up in the 60s and 70s -- and that was Glen Campbell (artist), Al DeLory (producer) and Jimmy Webb (composer.) These three men produced some of the best records of those combined decades, including "By The Time I Get To Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," and "Where's The Playground, Susie?" So when two of those remarkable people, Glen and Jimmy, got together in 1974 or 1975 to "reunite" (their best was yet ahead,) I bought the original vinyl of this album when it came out. Only recently did I rediscover it on CD, with bonus tracks of "Phoenix" and "Wichita Lineman." With producer Jimmy Bowen at the helm, these two guys delivered what still stands as an example of singing, songwriting and producing as it will never be done again. It reminds us of how out of touch Nashville is today, and how far away from stunningly good music they have traveled. Glen Campbell, despite his flaws and stumbles over the years, nevertheless stands as one of the great breakout talents of the 20th century, and Jimmy Webb remains one of the most significant and dominant composers of that same era. The music on this CD is at times breathtaking, thoughtful, uplifting and heartbreaking. "The Moon's A Harsh Mistress" is a tender metaphor written to a symbol in the night sky we'd all like to possess but never can. "You Might As Well Smile" (later recorded by Art Garfunkel under the title "Shine It On Me," another phrase from the song) is a beautifully rendered song that marries lyric and melody like nothing on 21st century radio. Anyone who wants to know just how good it ONCE was in the recording business, back before 30-something meddlers with laptops and spreadsheets got in the act with "sampling" and analysis, will appreciate this album. This comes from a time when artists were allowed to be artists without "appealing to a specific, definable demographic with a marketable genre" and songwriters wrote songs that actually said something with memorable melodies. God bless Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb. They give me a reason to keep listening. Do yourself a favor, and pick up the next copy (a frequent eBay item) of this CD that appears for sale. You're in for a real treat.
