Great item
I wish you could buy the red headshell separately, but you can't. This one is a red/pink and looks very nice on Technics sl 1900. Best price is at Needle Doctor.

1 of 1 found this helpful As far as I know long plate tubes emphasize the base and highs, where short plate tubes emphasize the mids. Here you get a non-disappointing sound, a subtle warmer difference between the two. Either type are satisfying. If you bought a new piece or equipment and it came with generic Chinese tubes toss the and upgrade to these, they will be a friend to your ears. I have bought several different brands and for contemporary tubes I really like them. Tubes are cheap enough try several and you will see. I also like new old stock GE. RCA, and Sylivania. The only problem with old tubes is a pair may not sound exactly the same even if they are matched and from age can have hum,crackle, or other distortions.
The Mullards are a good choice and come highly recommended.

Doctor Who scarf
