Olympus 35 SP 35SP 35mm Rangefinder Film Camera BEAUTIFUL
15 December 2017
Great 35mm rangefinder!
Lens at least as good as Leica, perfect normal for full-frame 35mm. It was made specifically for this camera: tear element close to film, entire assembly focuses on its helicoid, like a view camera. Has onboard spot meter. Not built as strongly as a Leica, and lens is fixed. But image quality is unmatchable, if you learn to visualize your images with the focal length. Very happy with mine, after years with SLRs. Good scans with negs should make for outstanding prints at a small fraction of full-frame digital costs (if time is not a factor).

Tiffen 49mm #21 Glass Filter - Dark Orange #49OR21
03 January 2018
Fine Filter
Tiffen has produced great filters forever; in over forty years of film wasting, I have yet to have a problem with them. I prefer the Orange #21 as it separates skies from buildings in my cityscapes better than the #16, when I print. It’s not a workhorse like the #8 Yellow I am NEVER without, but still a useful tool for the black and white aficionado. But Tiffen with confidence!
Stick Control : For the Snare Drummer, Paperback by Stone, George Lawrence, L...

A Must For Any Drummer!
This book is literally Drummer 101. If someone has an interest in learning to play drums with sticks (though a hand drummer would get a lot of good as well), you start here. An inexpensive metronome or similar phone app, a pair of sticks, and a mouse pad and you're ready to start. Of course, a drum practice pad or snare is even better, but a mouse pad on a tabletop actually works really well! To begin with, learn and master the first two pages, until you can do them at 90 beats per minute or faster with no errors. Practicing a half an hour daily, it took me about six weeks to get there and I have no talent. Those of you with any ability whatsoever will probably advance faster. After you get the first two pages mastered, you can start lessons for the drum set, or continue on if you are interested in drumline. The marching band drummer will require more speed and precision from high school onward. Either way, any percussionist will be grateful to have started with this book!
