Laboratory Manual of Glass-Blowing by Francis C Frary: New
29 June 2020
First Print 1914 copy of original just a reprint made in 2016 Labratory glass making for basic chemisty lab.
This book was originally printed in 1914 and this book is a copy of that book, with a copyright date of' 2006 and is the First Edition,Third Impression. the preface in the book was written in January 1914 by F.C Frary himself. The Cover picture is a picture of a person doing Studio Glassblowing in which one uses a 4 foot blowpipe to blow glass heated in a large studio furnace. This is not what the book is about! It is a 59 page book (Pamphlet actually) 5"x8" small book. The book shows some very basic techniques joining clear lab tube glass to use in chemistry labs. Hence, "Laboratory Glassblowing" not Studio Art Glassblowing, in which a large studio and a large furnace and kiln equipment is used to blow glass on a four foot metal rod. I would not recommend this book., unless you collect old book information from the early 1900's. A book you might look at is by Homer Hoyt and is titled Glassblowing, Topics include shop set-up, solid sculpture, blowing with tubing and surface decoration. Information on how to use and where to buy equipment and supplies is included. Extremely well illustrated. Hard cover with spiral binding. 9½" X 10", 267 pages. Good luck in your search for working with glass. Hope this helps your search..
