You've heard of it before, and you’ve probably seen those dramatic before and after photos on Facebook or Instagram. The Brazilian Blowout has become a somewhat notorious hair straightening product for its transformative and even life-changing qualities, as it promotes an intense shine while it eliminates frizz.

So, what is it?

The hair treatment known as the Brazilian Blowout uses a liquid keratin formula which bonds to your hair follicles to create a protective layer around each individual strand. This effectively diminishes frizz by sealing the cuticle to protect it against all kinds of external damage. Originating in Brazil, this smoothing treatment uses ingredients indigenous to the country such as annatto seed, camu camu, and açai berry.

Will It Make Your Hair Completely Straight?

Not unless you want it to, as the more you apply heat, the straighter your hair will become. So, if you like your hair curly, and are just interested in taming your frizz, the Brazilian Blowout will help smooth it out. The overall goal of the Brazilian Blowout is to make each individual strand of your hair less of a hassle to work with. For example, if you normally take about 30 minutes to dry your hair with a blow dryer, the time may be cut down by half to around 15 minutes.

How Long Does It Take?

You will need to shampoo your hair 3 or 4 times to ensure all of the product is removed, which allows for the treatment to adhere properly. Then, the overall process generally takes around two hours. Generally, it all depends on how thick and how long your hair is.

Is It Safe?

The Brazilian Blowout treatment is safe on every hair type and helps to improve both levels of moisture as well as shine. The concern for most people is because of the mention of formaldehyde in the formula, but there is only very small amount used.
