Brembo Motorcycle Brake Pads

Brembo brakes and brake pads can be found on street and track bikes alike. The Italian company makes a wide range of parts to suit different motorcycles, all designed using principles developed through their long racing heritage.

Brembo

Based in Bergamo in north-eastern Italy, Brembo has been manufacturing high-performance brakes since 1961. As with their automobile brakes, their bike brakes are designed for high-powered vehicles. In fact, the company has equipped some of the most successful riders in the 500cc and Moto GP championships with Brembo motorcycle brakes and suspensions including Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez and Australia’s own Mick Doohan.

Brembo Aftermarket Brakes

Brembo’s brakes are not only for Moto GP competitors. The company sells replacement brake pads and brake discs for bikes from many of the world’s best known manufacturers including Ducati, Honda and Harley Davidson. In fact, Brembo aims to produce aftermarket brakes to suit any style of riding, including everyday street bikes as well as finely-tuned racing beasts.

Brembo Street Pads

Brembo front brake pads and Brembo rear brake pads for motorcycles can be made from a variety of materials depending on their intended use. Materials are chosen for their ability to resist water and brake fading provide a firm contact with the brake rotor without damaging it. Brembo’s most road-oriented pads are their Road Carbon Ceramics. These pads are designed to provide smooth, progressive braking without the heavy initial bite of track brakes. For road-based sport bikes, Brembo also makes the SA and SP sintered pads. The SA is designed for front brake use, while the SP fits rear brakes. Sintered pads are typically longer-lasting and fade at a higher temperature than organic pads like the CC, and these particular pads provide a powerful initial bite for rapid braking.

Racing Pads

As you would expect from a racing equipment company, not all of Brembo’s pads are quite so street-oriented. Their SC brake pads bridge the gap between regular road use and track performance. A sintered pad like the SA, these pads are built for both high and low-temperature friction. The RC and Z04 pads, however, are strictly for track use, as their relatively low performance at low temperatures produces excessive stopping distances at road speeds. Once the rotors reach sufficient temperatures, though, they provide racing-winning performance. The RC pad is a carbon ceramic design, while the Z04 is sintered. Both are designed for maximum friction at high temperatures and extreme fade resistance to ensure reliability all the way to the finish line.
