Cat 5e Ethernet Cables (RJ45/8P8C)
Cat 5 cable is broadly synonymous with Ethernet cable or network cable, in general. Although there are other types, cat 5 has been the standard for long enough that most people find it easily recognisable. Many who do not fully understand how computer networking works still know what cat 5 is when they see it.
Cat 5e Ethernet Cable Use
Optimized for use with type RJ45 jacks and points of entry, cat 5 Ethernet wiring is the workhorse of computer networking. This is the cable that most often runs from a modem or router to a computer device to make a physical connection. Its ease of use prompts high levels of cat 5 manufacturing, making it relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain.
Cat 5e Ethernet Cable Styles
Cat 5e cable comes in a variety of colours and lengths, as well as in terminated and non-terminated types. A terminated cable has a plastic and copper head already, so it can plug directly into a jack in the wall or on a device. Non-terminated cat 5 is for more professional network building versus home applications.
