Classic & Collector Motorcycles

Whether you like to fix them up and ride them, prefer to collect and display them or a bit of both, eBay has hundreds of classic and collector motorcycles from iconic manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson, Honda and Yamaha, from which you can choose.

The rise of choppers

One of the most iconic looks in motorcycle history is that of a chopper. But just how did this famous type of bike come to be? It started in the United States of America after World War II. Soldiers from the war had seen a lot of smaller, sleeker bikes while in Europe. At that time, motorcycles in the United States were big and bulky. So, upon returning to the States, the soldiers started modifying their motorcycles to make them resemble the European look. They stripped away bulky parts and customised them as they saw fit. New shops started opening to help people build the bikes of their dreams. Then, in 1969, interest in choppers grew even more with the release of classic film Easy Rider. If you have dreams of owning or building your own chopper, check out what classic and collector motorcycles and motorcycle parts and accessories are available on eBay today.

Who are the men behind Harley-Davidson?

Harley-Davidson, perhaps the most well-known name in the motorcycle industry, was the creation of two men. William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson, along with Arthur’s brother Walter, introduced their first motorcycle to the public in 1903. A year later, the first Harley-Davidson dealership opened in Chicago, Illinois. Over the next few years, word of the high quality bikes would spread. In 1905 a Harley-Davidson was ridden to victory in a 15-mile (24-kilometre) race. Then in 1908, Harley-Davidson motorcycles rated a perfect 1,000 in the annual Federation of American Motorcyclists Endurance and Reliability Contest and also set a petrol economy record. The legend continued to grow. And it hasn’t stopped. eBay sellers have a great collection of classic and collector motorcycles. If you are a fan of vintage rides, check out what’s on offer today!
